Newcastle Secure Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade in Club-Record €85m Deal

Newcastle United have broken their transfer record to sign 23-year-old German striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for €85 million.

Woltemade, who joined Stuttgart from Werder Bremen last summer, scored an impressive 17 goals in 33 appearances despite not being a regular starter. His standout moment came in the DFB Cup Final, where he netted the opening goal in Stuttgart’s victory. The 6ft 6in (1.98m) forward also shone at the Under-21 Euros, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with six goals, including one in Germany’s 3-2 defeat to England in the final.

The deal includes a base fee of £64.8m (€75m) plus £4.3m (€5m) in add-ons. Woltemade will don the number 27 shirt for Newcastle.

The signing could prompt Liverpool to revisit their pursuit of Newcastle’s star striker Alexander Isak, after a £110m bid was rejected earlier this month.

Speaking to Socapredict.com, Woltemade said: “I’m thrilled to join this incredible club. From the first call, I felt Newcastle’s ambition and their belief in me. Leaving Germany is a big step, but the warm welcome here already feels like family. After speaking with the head coach, I’m confident this is the perfect place to reach my full potential. I’ve seen St. James’ Park on TV—the atmosphere is electric, and I can’t wait to score goals for the fans.”

Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe added: “We’re excited to finalize Nick’s signing so swiftly. He’s exactly the kind of attacking talent we’ve been targeting. His technical ability, proven goal-scoring record in a top European league, and potential for growth make him a fantastic addition. Nick’s character is also a great fit for our squad, and we’re delighted to welcome him.”
